Exercises and stretches to increase blood circulation before getting into the water. It may also be a good idea to take a short run or jog to warm up your body.

Take Small Steps

Enter the water slowly and gradually to acclimate your body to the cold temperature. If you're a beginner, start by filling the pool with water and standing in it for 10-20 seconds. Breathe calmly and come out of the water. Regain control of your breath and re-enter the pool after a few minutes. Try staying in the water for 20-30 seconds, or longer if you can control your breathing. Aim for a maximum of 2 minutes.

The next time you ice bathe, extend the duration to 1-2 minutes, but make sure to do it in two sessions. You can also try alternating between a hot bath for 30-60 seconds and then the ice bath again to promote blood circulation in your body.

How do I regulate the temperature in my ice bath?

Essentially, it's a good idea to regulate the temperature naturally and add the ice you have available. Take 4-5 buckets or food containers, fill them with water, and let them sit overnight. Take out the ice 30 minutes before you plan to use the ice bath. Voila - you're ready to take an ice bath! There isn't a specific amount you need to take, as it depends a lot on the current air temperature. If it's 25 degrees Celsius, summer, and the sun is directly on your pool, more ice needs to be used than in winter when it's close to freezing.

The ideal temperature for an ice bath varies from person to person, as it depends on individual preferences and tolerance levels for cold water. Generally, water temperatures between 0°C and 10°C are considered suitable for ice bathing.
